LNBP Community Boating has a new Chairperson with Mr John Tobin being voted in at the charity’s recent Annual General Meeting.

The Charity’s AGM was held on the evening of Saturday 27th May 2023 at LNBP’s Show ground pitch at the Crick Boat Show at Crick Marina in Northamptonshire and also saw a couple of new and renewed appointments.

Firstly to our new Chairperson.

John’s association with LNBP started over 20 years ago as a Scout leader by assisting on the boats alongside qualified skippers from his Scouting group who continue to be regular clients and book several trips each year.

After a few years he successfully completed the CCBM qualification in order to run trips for his own Scout group and make them easier to manage. John has now been running these trips for his group for 17 years and still enjoys the experience from taking the boats out.

About five years ago John was introduced to LNBP Trustee and Booking Officer Nigel Smith, and after a few conversations it was suggested came along to an Executive Meeting to meet the Trustees and consider getting involved. After a few meetings and further conversations, John was invited to become a member of the Executive and from there started to understand and appreciate a lot more about what the project was all about.

Subsequently in the last few years John has become a little more involved with the charity and has gladly accepted the invitation to now stand as both a Trustee of LNBP Community Boating and also its Chairperson.

The Trustees and Executive of LNBP Community Boating extend their thanks to John for taking on this role and wish him a successful and enjoyable tenure.

John was appointed as as Trustee along with Paul Dadford who is rejoining the charity in a similar role. Both were nominated by Mike Wilton-Caley on behalf of LNBP’s Trustees and proposed and seconded unanimously by the Meeting’e attendance.

Company Admin Secretary

Also at the meeting John Loscombe had agreed to take on the role of Company Admin Secretary as of the date of the AGM, taking over from Alan Cobbold who officially stood down prior to the meeting after an excellent and highly valuable seven years in the role. John is not standing as a Trustee at this time, and we welcome him to the charity and role and hope he enjoys an equally long, successful and enjoyable tenure with us.
