Waitrose and its customers have proved that communities do matter by voting and donating a cheque to LNBP at Braunston.

The donation has come from Waitrose’s store in Daventry and the company’s Community Matters scheme.

Waitrose Community Matters

Each month every Waitrose branch donates £1,000 (£500 in Convenience shops) between three local good causes that they choose.

Since its launch in 2008, the scheme has donated £14 million to local charities chosen by Waitrose customers, who by placing a token in the Community Matters box at their local branch are helping their community.

Waitrose Community Matters token At the end of a customer’s shop in branch, they receive a token to place in a box of the good cause who they think they would most like to support. The more tokens a cause gets, the bigger the donation they receive.

LNBP at Braunston was one of those three chosen charities during January 2016 and from the tokens placed in the box and counted at the end of the month, has now received a cheque for £340.00.

The donation received will be utilised to meet the running costs and maintenance of our Community Boats based in Braunston, which are used by many local groups, sometimes with the aid of our bursary fund.
From everyone at LNBP at Braunston, may we extend a huge thank you to everyone at Waitrose in Daventry for inviting us to participate in the scheme and providing us with the donation, and also to Waitrose’s customers for ‘voting’ for us by placing their tokens in our box.
