A bit of downtime in between client groups has enabled our two boats Lancelot and Guinevere to undergo a period of maintenance and get a bit of general TLC.
The planned works and maintenance had been earmarked following the boats being surveyed over the winter prior to the start of the season, and also given that Lancelot and Guinevere are now 20 years old.
The boats were slipped at Braunston Boats, just opposite our normal mooring place at Bottom Lock at Braunston, for a week each. Guinevere was there for the week commencing 20th February and Lancelot following for the week commencing 27th February, with the surveys carried out by Justin Green of JG Marine Services.
Some pitting of the steel work was found on both boats and remedial work to overcome this along with some other minor repairs which were carried out during their week on the slip. The boats were blacked at the same time and additional anodes fitted on the recommendation of the surveyor to inhibit further pitting occurring.
So both boats are now good and resplendent for many more years of service!
The photos below are of Lancelot on the slipway after having been surveyed, blacked and having new anodes fitted,
Many thanks to Brian Tidbury, one of our Project Skippers and Executive Committee Members, for supplying the information and photos.
