One of LNBP’s proudest and most significant achievements came in 2006 with being presented with The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
Dave Otway recalls that in June of that year representatives from the project were invited to Buckingham Place for a garden party and also to a Royal Reception at the Palace.
We were privileged to have a private audience and longish private chat with HRH The Princess Royal (Princess Anne) who had been briefed on who we were and what we did.
We also had the opportunity of meeting the HM Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip, Her Majesty remarking as she finally left the reception that there were a lot of narrowboaters there.
